Biography:
Prof. Ján TURÁN was born in Šahy, Slovakia. He received Ing.(MSc.)
degree in physical engineering with honours from the Czech Technical
University, Prague, Czech Republic, in 1974, and RNDr. degree in
experimental physics with honours from Charles University, Prague,
Czech Republic, in 1980. He received a CSc. (PhD.) and DrSc. degrees
in radioelectronics from University of Technology, Košice,
Slovakia, in 1983, and 1992, respectively. From 1974 to 1977, he
worked as an electrical engineer at the ČKD Semiconductors,
Prague. From 1977 to 1979, he was with the Institute of Nuclear
Technology and Radioecology, Košice, as a research fellow. Since
March 1979, he has been at the University of Technology, Košice as
Professor for electronics and information technology. His research
interests include digital signal processing and fiber optics,
communication and sensing. Prof. Turán is a senior member of the IEEE,
member of the Czech and Slovak Radioengineering and Photonics
Societies.
Field of interest:
Application of digital and multimedia signal processing ( transform
image processing, fast translation invariant transforms - Rapid
transform, Hough transform, Radon transform, Trace transform ),
multimedia communications ( teleeducation, teleworking), fiber optic
communication and sensing.
